Congratulations to all of those that participated in the 8th MTS Contest! There were so many great entries in this week's competition, that instead of the normal three winners, I have added an extra one. The finalists in the competition included Arkon Effect, AchIZ, Bleu Jeans, Jon Van Dee, S'perflex, BrendoX, IMP▲KT, Jerix, M.E.S.P., ax3s, SPECtor G, StationSix, and Mr Straightface, all with great songs. Here are the winners, in order.
1) AchIZ - Piano Piece
AchIZ is a new 15 year old producer from New York, that recently released his track, Piano Piece. This track was really, really good. Despite being 7 minutes long, it really kept my attention with the awesome vibes, and the deep bass. The harmony of this song, with the different synthesizers working together was phenomenal. The bass drop was also great, being extremely melodic, while keeping the beat together. This track felt like a music box on steroids. Great job AchIZ, and congratulations on winning the 8th MTS Contest!
2) Mr Straightface - Sodium
Mr Straightface has produced since the summer of 2011, and has become much better in the process. Mr Straightface's entry, Sodium, was an amazing dubstep track. This track had so much ominous dark feeling to it, yet kept its pace, and had an amazing drop. The drop really destroyed it in this track, with great riffs surrounding it. Amazing job, and congratulations, Mr Straightface!
3) StationSix - Vancouver
StationSix is a 19 year old producer, and has been producing since 2010. His entry, Vancouver, was an amazingly deep progressive house track, and had so much great stuff going on. It has an amazing feel to it, sort of mau5ish, but unique in its own way. The melody was really sweet. Give Vancouver a listen, and congratulations StationSix!
4) SPECtor G - SPECtor G's First Symphony
Although I planned to have 3 winners, SPECtor G made this competition way too close. SPECtor G has released a lot of great stuff on his soundcloud page recently. However, this track really stood out to me as being one of his best. It is really chill, but has so much going on. The different pieces of the track fit so well together, as well as the vocals. I really love the symphonic feel of this track. Congratulations SPECtor G on releasing this awesome track!
Honorable Mention: IMP▲KT - Skrillex Syndicate Remix
Although this officially isn't a winner, I would like to give an honorable mention to IMP▲KT for putting a twist on Skrillex's Syndicate, and adding his own touches. Great job!
