MTS Contest #13

The 13th MTS Contest is now over! This contest had a huge variety of genres, from glitch hop, to dubstep, as well as house and breakbeat. There were many unique tracks that I had the pleasure to listen to. In this contest, there were 3 winners, and two honorable mentions. Here they are!

1) ArTiPHx Feat. Teknatronik - Kick It

Follow ArTiPHx here

ArTiPHx entered the contest with his collab track, Kick It, produced by himself and Teknatronik. Kick It is an extremely powerful track. It even starts off strong, with a sick synth lead intro, which then drops into a bass heavy melody. ArTiPHx also entered the Template Remix Contest, and although he didn't win, he released a sick entry, which can be found here. Great job on this track, and congratulations on winning the 13th MTS Contest!

2) Mani - Impact
Follow Mani here

Mani entered with a house track, titled "Impact." Impact has a sweet Avicii feel to it, with some beautiful synths right from the start. Mani's track has a great, catchy melody, with some epic buildups and breakdowns. Congratulations Mani on placing second!

3) Zake - Template ( S'perflex Remix )
Follow S'perflex here

S'perflex entered with his dubstep remix of Zake's, "Template." It is a really unique remix, and gives the original track a great twist, with the changes in key, as well as the heavy drop. Congratulations on placing 3rd in the 13th MTS Contest!

Honorable Mentions:
These two tracks, I felt, deserved honorable mentions:

  • Kalle Gyllenbjörk & Adam Lindhoff - Universe (Preview) - This is a really sweet song, that has an amazing melody. Everything blends in perfectly, and the sound feels really natural. If only this was longer/the full version, it would have definitely placed in the top 3. I can't wait to hear the full version of this, great job!
  • Zymiily - Deep Inside - Zymiily entered with his drum and bass track, "Deep Inside." Although Zymiily is normally a house producer, his take on drum and bass is great. The bass is really apparent, and dominates the track. Give this a listen!

Delta Heavy - Down The Rabbit EP

Follow Delta Heavy here

Delta Heavy released his newest EP, "Down The Rabbit Hole," just days ago.

"With their most ambitious project to date Delta Heavy invite you to follow them 'Down The Rabbit Hole' into a place where a myriad of styles, genres and influences are merged into one another and combine effortlessly to create 6 hard-hitting original tracks.
The lead track of the EP 'Get By' throws the listener back to the turn of the century when UK garage ruled the charts. Pitched up saccharine vocals and bouncy 2 step beats are juxtaposed with a thumping dubstep switch that catapults the dance floor straight back in 2012. Their own 174 bpm remix sees more 90s nostalgia twisted into their trademark pounding drum and bass as the vocal sits on twinkling rave pianos and a reese bassline that builds to a thundering drop.
'End of Days' sees Delta Heavy in more familiar territory. A staple of Andy C sets in recent months, a tense and apocalyptic intro rises through grinding alarm stabs and an urgent guitar riff towards an unrelenting wall of searing synths and bass. In a similar vein 'Turbine' retains the dystopian, mechanical mood whilst combining more traditional jungle ingredients, rugged breakbeats and a ripping hoover lead. 'Make It Rain' keeps the tempo at 174 bpm but flips the genre on its head with a funky, swaggering take on the half time style.
'Demons' picks up from where 'Hold Me' left off, balancing light and shade expertly as a tropical intro of steel drums and imploring vocals cascade into an explosive conclusion."

"With its fidgety electro blips and unrelenting synths this track is yet another unmistakably seismic offering from the German house titan. But ‘Lyme’ is more progressive and ultimately euphoric than his previous release, displaying another sumptuous string to the already impressive bow of this powerhouse producer; tantalizing build-ups and crashing waves of sound mean this is quite the ride, and one that you’ll definitely want to get on again and again."

The 12th MTS Contest is now over! There were so many great tracks entered, but only 3 remained victorious. There weren't any easy decisions made, considering the large amount of great tracks entered. Here are the artists that remained victorious.

1) Rhythmic Attack - World Level 2012

Rhythmic Attack had a sick electro house track, that really stood out. This had an amazing intro, which caught my attention at first. The vibes were so chill, and yet so melodic. Suddenly, it dropped into an awesome bass drop, which was very unique, but fit the entire track well. The entire song had all its elements fit together perfectly. Great job Rhythmic Attack, and congratulations!

2) Shikimo - Tempest

Shikimo's entry, Tempest, was a sweet progressive trance track, that had a great melody throughout. The synths in the intro were very warm and calming, but the real stuff didn't come in until after 3:00. This was a fresh and unique trance track that really stood out. Great job, and congratulations Shikimo!

3) StationSix - Silence

I don't usually like putting Youtube links on this blog, since they usually bloat the entire thing. However, StationSix's track, Silence, had me put the first Youtube link ever embedded on this blog. This progressive house track really had some great parts to it. The melody throughout sounded really sweet, and really chill. Congratulations StationSix, and congratulations on placing 3rd!
